LOCKWOOD has been actively involved in
recreational fishing and boating for more than 30
years. He has held two world angling records. At
the age of 22, he authored the coffee-table
fishing book, The Australian Atlas of Fishing,
published by Angus and Robertson. David has family
ties with newspapers and has had articles appear
in national magazines, ABC books, as well as
making guest appearances on television. His first
boat test was conducted when he was 16 years old.
These days he is recognised as Australia's
foremost authority on recreational boating. David
has a regular boating column in the Sydney Morning
Herald and The Age in Melbourne, while penning
travel articles and news stories for these
metropolitan newspapers from time to time. As a
writer, he imparts a sense of joie de vivre,

DAVID
PIKE is an Electronic Engineer by profession
but has had a continual interest in things
automotive ever since he first obtained his
driving licence. A foundation member of the North
Shore Sporting Car Club where he competed in car
trials, hill climbs and time trials, his first and
only motor racing trophy was won at the old Mount
Druitt racetrack in one of the club events. Around
this time he soon found that to compete in motor
sport you either needed to be very rich or have a
wealthy sponsor, neither of which applied in his
case meaning a curtailment of these activities.
Even so he has continued to maintain his interest
in automotive engineering especially in relation
to the use of electronics in this field.
