FALCON REPEATS POPULAR LIMITED EDITION

By EWAN KENNEDY
8 February 2010

So successful was the 2009 Falcon G6 Limited Edition that Ford Australia has revived it for the 2010 model season.

Based on the popular G6, the Limited Edition has 18-inch G Series alloy wheels, special colour accent treatments on the upper and lower grilles, as well as on the foglight surrounds. The rear bumper insert also gets the colour accents. 'Limited Edition' badges let others know your car is something out of the ordinary.

Inside, there are side curtain airbags, leather-detailed seat trim, a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel with satin alloy audio and cruise control buttons. Ford also has installed iPod integration and Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity.

Best news of all is that the $36,990 driveaway price for the 2010 G6 Limited Edition is only $500 up on that of the 2009 model. Ford tells us there's almost $13,000 of net retail value included in that low price tag.

Unlike the 2009 car, where you had to pay extra for Ford's prestige paint, the new Special Edition has it on offer at no extra cost.

Interestingly, the G6 Limited Edition isn't sold only with the Falcon straight-six petrol engine, it is also offered with the E-Gas dedicated LPG engine and accompanying four-speed automatic transmission. When the E-Gas option is chosen, the Falcon will be fitted with 17-inch sports alloy wheels to differentiate it from the petrol G6 Limited Edition model.

The dedicated LPG E-Gas powertrain is sold as a $2000 option, while a $2000 government grant from the LPG Vehicle Scheme is available to eligible customers purchasing a new LPG vehicle
.

Ford's FG Falcon is a brilliant family car that hasn't had the support from buyers it really deserves. Though it's selling moderately well Falcon is a victim of buyers changing to SUVs. But those who are tired of big, bulky wagons will love the nimble handling and stability offered by a car that's arguably the most Australian of all locally built cars in its design and features.
